# Core Operation

All steps have their respective switches, levers and buttons shown on the images below the procedure.

## Initialization

This sequence shall power up the Tardis. To execute most other sequences, you will need to have powered the Tardis on before.

## QuickStart

### Initializing the QuickStart sequence

QuickStart allows you to **power the Tardis up faster** by using a shorter sequence, though it will have its **range of capabilities limited** until completely booted up. It is **recommended to not use this approach** unless it is impossible to do otherwise.

### Finalizing the QuickStart sequence

To finalize the QuickStart startup procedure, and completely power the Tardis up, complete the sequence with the steps explained here. This completion will finish as if you had ran the normal Initialization sequence.

## Pressure Gauges and Pressure Relief Rotators

### Pressure Gauges' Location

On the panel with a colored keypad, there are **two pressure gauges** on the console that display the **built-up pressure in the Tardis’ system and console.** These **must be cleared periodically**. Otherwise, the Tardis could malfunction or even explode.

The pressure will **build up over time** as long as the Tardis is initialized.

The Pressure Gauges are located at these positions:

### How to Relieve the Pressure

**Proceed with caution**, as turning the Release Rotators will make the pressure exit its chamber **rapidly**, causing a [**very loud sound** that could **damage your ears**](#user-content-fn-1)[^1]**.**

To relieve the pressure, **turn the Release Rotators** shown in the following images **(C-Pressure Release, S-Pressure Release):**

## Time Travel

The first thing one must know when **attempting time travel** with the Tardis is that there are **two methods** to do so, the **Stygian Levers** and the **Time Dial.**

### Stygian Lever Time Travel

#### Introduction

The **Stygian Levers** provide the **faster method** of time travel. There are four Stygian Levers, present in the following image:&#x20;

The table above shows what travel mode each Stygian Lever will enable you to use. Rapid Travel uses approximately **1000-year intervals**, whereas Steady Travel will use **1-year increments**. It is hard to precisely select a year to time travel to with Rapid Travel, but **Steady travel or the Time Dial allow for fine-grained year picking.**

#### Usage

Once you have selected a travel mode you wish to use, **pull the lever belonging to that mode** and [**split the Main Lever**](#user-content-fn-2)[^2]. When the destination year you wished to travel to shows up on the display, push the Main Lever back into its original position.

Otherwise, if you are **already in flight**, you may simply pull **any of the Stygian Levers** to begin time traveling.

### Time Dial Time Travel

The Time Dial is a **slower but more precise** time travel method.

Turning the Time Dial [**towards the right**](#user-content-fn-3)[^3] will **increment the year by one**. Turning it [**towards the left**](#user-content-fn-4)[^4] will have the opposite effect, **turning back time one year**.

Once you have selected you desired year, you must **Dematerialize and Materialize** to travel to the selected year. This is explained in the [following section.](#dematerialization-and-rematerialization)

Otherwise, if you are **already in flight**, you may simply **select your year of destination** and land.

## Materialization and Dematerialization

### Introduction

Dematerialization is the process of **disappearing from your current location and timeline** to Materialize, or **appear, at another location and timeline.**

### Dematerialization

Initializing a Dematerialization sequence requires following the sequence presented below.

Pull down the **L-Stabilizer.**

Flip **Stott Switches 1, 3, 4, 6 and 10 in order.**

Pull down the **Yellow Retro Lever**, followed by the **Green Retro Lever.**

Pull the **Main Lever** (without splitting it).
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

This will initiate the Dematerialization process.

### Materialization

Please note that following this sequence is not required if you have enabled the Auto-Land feature. The Auto-Land feature is further explained in [this section.](#autoland)

Disable **Stott Switches 10, 6, 4, 3 and 1 in order.**

### Auto-Land

The Auto-Land feature will, as the name states, **automatically land the Tardis** and **execute the Materialization sequence** without the necessity of doing anything. The toggle **can be enabled at any point** (before, during or after a flight)￼.

The Auto-Land feature **can be disabled** at any point as well by simply **flicking the switch again.**

## Deinitialization

This sequence will **power down** (Deinitialize) the Tardis.
